            Your best bet is to base smoke on temperature, that way you can adjust the dissipation by using "cooling".

                  i did this using cooling, no need to animate anything, the cooling "animates" the temperature for you. but now i thing the simplest way to dissipate smoke is with proper adjusted transparency curve. the natural transparency curve looks like this:

                  it approaches the x axis, but does not touch it.
                  to make dissipation effect, the curve must be more concave and can touch the x axis.
