  • Distributed Rendering Spawner Issues

    Hi,

So I am using Sketchup 8 Pro on Win 7 with a full license of the latest build of V-ray. I have V-ray installed on my system and I am using 3 other computers (all Win. 7) as my slaves. They only have the distributed rendering program installed on them.

The issue I am having is that the buckets that the other computers are rendering are not blending in with the rendering. They are either too light or to dark or the textures aren't being processed the same way, and therefore they look different and I get little squares all over my rendering.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Check the file path of the textures that are rendering at different brightnesses. It could be that the diffuse layer bitmap for those textures are saved on your main computer's C: drive or some other drive that the slave computers cannot directly access. To check this, go to your V-Ray Material Editor and select a material that rendered funny. In that material's Diffuse layer, click the "M" by Color to open the Texture Editor window, then scroll down to see the file name of the bitmap. Click the "..." button to open the folder where the bitmap is saved. It should be saved in a folder on your network so that your slave computers can get to it. If it's saved on your C: drive or desktop, then your slave computers won't be able to get to it, thus they'll render it differently.

Before rendering, check to make sure all of your texture maps (diffuse, bump, reflection, etc) are saved in a shared folder on your network so that all of the computers in your render farm can access it.

You can also set your DR settings Mode to "Send to shared folder," and then create a folder on your network, but from my experience, this doesn't always work.

    Hope this helps.
    I am currently using V-Ray 1.49.01.
