    Hi Pete,

    thanks for the answer.

I've tried recreating the textures I used for my model, using the Material Editor in VRay 1.5.
    It didn't help at all.

This are some points, I noticed, during my experiments:

    1. Just having the old(imported) or new (recreated) materials in the Material Editor and afterwards saving, doesn't bring any difference to the file size. Applying the textures to the surfaces/solids in the rhino model however and saving afeterwards, increases the size drastically - the raw model (without applyed textures) had about 220 mb, after applying the textures it grew up to 1.230 mb...
    2. One more thing, I noticed, during the process of texturing - the more complex a texture is (reflection, refraction, filter,..), the bigger the file size becomes after applying to the model.

Now I really don't know, how to get around this problem. What I surely know is, that it is none of a Render Options- or Old-1.05-Materials-Problem.
I'll be really glad, if you come up with any solution, folks.

      Hi
We know about this issue and we improved the way to handle the V-Ray materials. We are pretty close to release a new build of V-Ray for Rhino.

        Hi fpedrogo,

this is some nice news. However - what does 'pretty close' mean more precisely? A month, or a year? And - this 'new build' - does it mean it's going to be a whole new version, or a service pack? To be honest - It's less than an year, that VRay 1.5 (64-bit) became available in Germany to buy. And I'm not really looking forward to buying a new one, because of issues, that weren't really improved enough for the 1.5 version...

Looking forward to hearing from you,
        Best regards
