i assigned a blinn for both images below:

    with mental ray

    http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...clouds_obj.jpg

    and with vray

    http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn13/sifidis/aa.jpeg

the vray render is like the white part has a different light source. why is that?

(both renders are made with nurbs > isoparm > detach surface)

You are using default light sources? I guess vray default light is in different place to MR. Also I would advise against using standard BLI shaders and suggest using Vray shaders. The BLI shaders are not physically accurate as far as I remember.

There is no V-Ray shader that is 100% the same as Maya Blinn one. However, you might be able to get a similar result with a VRayMtl material with Blinn BRDF and "trace reflections" turned off. Then you'll have to play with the reflection color and the glossiness to get a similar result as the Maya Blinn shader.
