    hello,
The tutorial available on chaos group are not enough to achieve the a succession of waterfull breaking into the ocean like the image attached in this thread

    .
I notice the parameters are too unpredictable and it is very hard to get a good looking result without rendering and rendering again and again for very long hours. Is there some preset Library available somewhere? I can't believe that animation studio spent months to find the right parameters!
Can you please provide more link to be able to reproduce one cascading fluid going down to an ocean?
    Thanks

they really don't. actually the big studios run a single simulation over multiple machines (sometimes up to 1000) with different parameters and then choose the best result.
i know this doesn't sound good for you, but the simulation field is really hard.
unfortunately we don't have waterfall sample scene, we are considering to make one but this will take some time, it will be not included in the incoming release.

Thanks, the statement is clear but far from Chaos group philosophy: to make tools for artist.
Any advice to step in regarding 2 liquid interaction or should I give up straight away?

i can describe a short setup for waterfall into the ocean, of course this is just raw starting setup.
        so, let try.
        - create a simulator box
        - open the liquid panel and enable the liquids
        - enable the initial fill up for the ocean, make it about 20%
        - open the rendering panel, enable the displacement and put phoenix ocean texture into the displacement slot
        - set the texture into the material editor and set wind speed about 3 m/sec, if you use imperial units the yard and the meter are almost the same.
until now you have the ocean
        - enable the splash birth
        - put the waterfall geometry into the box
        - create a geometry that will produce the water
        - create a liquid source helper
        - select the above mentioned geometry in it
        - start simulation
        - create PHXFoam object
        - select the simulator in the particle system slot, when the dialog is opened, select the splash particle group
        - create a water material (black diffuse, white reflect/refract, fresnel reflections, low saturated green-blue fog color) and assign it to the simulator
in general, this is all. all the rest is to adjust the settings, but it is the harder part. you have to adjust the splash to about 5-10M particles, for good looking water you will need about 50M cells
the expected simulation time is about one minute per frame, but the rendering is usually slower.
don't use complicated render techniques involving multiple rays like GI or glossy less than 1, one ambient light and a vray sun, don't use dome light.

          Thanks,
Glossy less than one: you mean for the water shader, or for the surrounding too (rock, sand under water, rock, beach surrounding the water).

for surrounding too, everything that can see the splash. of course this is performance tip, not an unconditional requirement

I try to preserve grids dimensions in my ship scene where a dolphin jumps up by using cascade mode. It worked quite well after the cell splash was about to touch the main grids ocean surface again. Of course it didnt make any contact cause it was simulated before. Also the water level was too visible in the second smaller grid so I have to raised it above the original ocean level.
Anyway, in some cases cascade works quite well. Waiting for the more advanced grid adaptation.
Sorry for be a bit off topic.

                Thanks for the comments.
Can you share your parameters or screenshot?
                Thanks

Im talking about this video https://vimeo.com/86763640
But I dont have anything left from my cascade test related to it if that whats you mean?

                    thanks for the link,
reading the comments, it sounds like doing a waterfall into an ocean is just something that is still for Hollywood studio!
I will give it a try to see how it can be composed to get a faster result.
