  • Smoke rendering vibration problem

    Hi,
I created a scene with an animated bird. a Phoenix source generate smoke on the bird when it flying around by path contraint,
The simulation work perfectly on viewport. but when I render the sequence its got a problem.
Its like a shaking animation. my smoke bird vibrate around it's position every frame. while the viewport do not show any vibration animation of camera or the simulation.

First I try to use adaptive grid, when the problem show up, I though it because of the moving grid.
Then I use it no more, just a normal big container, but again, the smoke still vibrated each frame while the viewport preview is perject.

Any idea of what is wrong please. I use Phoenix 2.2 and max 2014.

    thanks

very interesting, is it possible to be from the camera? can you render it with some reference geometry to be sure that the camera is not shaking.

I am absolutely sure that there is no animation apply to the camera.

I just find out one weird thing. I render the other object in the scene and still have vibration.
only when I delete the Phoenix container, the vibration is gone. not the Phoenix source, just delete the container make the problem.

          Weird??

Weird indeed If you could attach the scene, or a stripped version of it, we'd be able to investigate.

I can't reproduce the issue here, although I notice the scene is different, most notably - there is no animation for the bird, it only follows the trajectory. Can you confirm that you're getting the shaking with this exact scene?

Btw, just a tip - you could uncheck "No smaller than initial grid" in the Grid rollout, so this way the grid will no longer have to include the original green box and can follow the bird only, you will save some RAM and sim time this way. In this case you will also need to decrease the adaptive Threshold to about 0.02-0.03 so the grid does not contract too early.

I am sure this scene have the same problem,
I try it a few times, a few scenes but still the same.

and other thing, when I recreate the scene in max 2012 and Phoenix 2.1, there is no problem anymore but the smoke of Phoenix 2.2 look a lot better
