can i make a request that peter stop posting photographs and passing them off as 3d? Just kidding. those images look awesome. what every your using for sky has a perfect effect on the horizon where id expect a sharp transition between water and sky in a 3d render

actually the real horizon is also sharp, i wonder why the peter's images have not sharp horizon.
we spent really huge efforts to make it sharp, you can see in the very first videos it was not sharp.

I think there's some fog involved...

Peter I have a few questions for you.

I've followed your guide from your website and everything is working good so far except I'm having difficulty emulating the background lighting and resolution from one of your HDRI's. So I got a blitzkrieg of questions

              Settings:
              http://i.imgur.com/jwIlPLo.jpg

              Render:
              http://i.imgur.com/jwIlPLo.jpg

I'm currently using the 0743 Cloudy Morning Sun and this i the result I'm getting. Never mind the noise, I set it low so it would render faster but I would like to know what your Vray-light dome settings, camera, and multiplier/gamma settings you're using for the HDRI. As you can see in the image I"m struggling with sun being overly bright in certain areas and dark towards the other side, it's not as consistent as in your images.. I've tried everything from tweaking the camera settings, exposure control from color corrections, but no matter what I do I can't replicate your background and get that soft light feel without it getting too harsh. Are you by any chance using a sun with the dome light or solely relying on the dome light?

In addition, the background HDRI is coming out too pixelated, which leads me to believe that you're using a bitmap on a plane? Is that correct? And finally, I noticed you have on some of the images there's a shadow being casted onto the ocean, is that from the HDRI or the fog environment? If you don't mind posting your settings I would greatly appreciate that, and will answer any questions you have for me. Thank you.

                    Hi,
these are some good looking ocean pictures! I was wondering if the Phoenix Ocean Tex is available in the Phoenix for Maya demo yet? Last time I checked it wasn't but it would definitely nice to have. It looks like it producer nicer results than the VrayWaterTex.

OceanTex is not available neither in the demo-version nor in the official one, it is only available in the Nightly Builds so far.

Thanks for the info. So, will this be available through the PhoenixFD demo to us Maya users one day?

Peter, Ivaylo, I'm struggling with mixing the two maps. When I use Ivaylo's suggested setup with Vraycomptex it ends up a real mess. Would it be possible to post a shot of how you did that?

just a simple mix map, with noise as the mask between the two
