  • Deep into Nuke

    Hi,
i am composing a short cg scene in Nuke and wanted to ask about an issue.

I am receiving some .exr frames with deep info rendered in Vray (not sure if 2.x or 3, didn´t ask the 3d guy yet) of some growing vines, which seem to have its leaves opacity mapped.
The thing is that the leaves -and the grass- and even some of the trunks of the vine appear just exiting the deepread node with some white halo as if there were some premultiplication problem. Not sure if that could be the case with deep images.
There´s even some halos on the edges of the mapped cards for the leaves, as if there where some filtering artifact, but there are also on the edges of the trunks.

I can post just a small crop here:

I have read there is some plugin for nuke to read the deep files from vray, but as i undertood from my reading that´s not the case with .exr files (?)

I was hoping to have some insight from you here before talking to whom is delivering the images in order to ask him for some specific settings if needed.

    Thanks in advance
    T

If you change the deep composition mode - i.e. enable or disable volumetric composition - does anything change?

    Best regards,

      Thanks Vlado,
when disabling volumetric composition trough a deeptoimage node it just makes a small difference, as spected, where both images coming out the deepmerge node overlaps.
But the problem on the image I posted still remains.
I may have been not very clear, the image illustrates the output of one read node, no deepmerge is happening yet bettwen the vines and the structure.

I am viewing the metadata on the exrs now; not sure, but the exr/version value is 1, could that be the problem? I understood just exr 2 was capable of deep data?
      Thanks
      T

Can you post the file or send it to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com so that we can check what may be wrong with it?

        Best regards,
        Vlado
