  • Phoenix FD for Maya export PRT

running 2.2 nightly with Maya 2014. Is it possible to export PRT files in the Maya version of Phoenix?

I was able to do this by creating maya particles from the phoenix particles and then saving with the krakatoa PRT saver. I dont suppose there's a way to create the particles with a random seed in order to have multiple PRT partitions?

Yes, we don't have direct export to prt yet. Can you explain a bit more about these PRT partitions? How do you setup normal Maya particle system to work with them?

krakatoa for maya comes with a PRT saver that runs iterations of your particle simulation with a different seed on the emission for each iteration. I noticed that the "emission random stream seeds" attribute isnt available in the nParticles when converted from PhoenixFD particles - which makes sense as they are not being emitted. If there was a random seed on the Phoenix particles, one could run iterations of that simulation.

Hm, I'm not sure, but it may be possible to add such random number using per particle attribute and expression on creation. But since this is not done by the emitter itself, I'm not sure if you can create meaningful stream seed usng just simple expression and maybe the particle Id/creation time (you can get these from Phoenix)

well thankfully Phoenix can generate many more particles than Maya, so I can probably get enough with 1 long sim. It is nice to be able to send iterations to the farm though.
