  • Trying to make a candleflame - no luck

    Hi

I´m new to phoenixFD in general and completley new to fire in PhoenixFD.

I´ve been trying to light a simple candle. Which turned out to be very hard to do (?). I´ve manage to make the candle explode, nuclear-candle, flamethrower and make it look like a bonfire....but not near enough to have a calm, smooth candle flame.

The parameters i´ve been tweeking mostly is 'Dynamics: Gravity, timescale'. Also 'Attraction effect' and 'frame smoothing'.
And have had best results with those - although not even close enough what im looking for. But closest..

The straigh-forward questions are really, how do I control the shape of a flame? How do I stop it from vortexing even when I have voticity off?
How should I do? I´ve been tweaking pretty much all parameters to make a flame - not a fire.

Here is my closest approach together with sim. settings. The source: Inject, discharge 70, temp 2300.

    What am I doing wrong?

the candle simulation is harder than it seems to be. the main problem with the candles is their small scale, this requires very high spf, try with 20.

Also, you can have a look at an old example scene that used to be included in Phoenix:
