  • prevent png from casting shadows

is this possible? i mean the image is mapped onto a plain but the boundaries of the plain itself is casting shadows is this avoidable? see the attached. just wondering since it works well in corona

Turn on affect shadows in the VRayMtl properties (near the refraction settings). Alternately, use a second invisible to camera object with an opacity map, and have that object cast shadows, but the first object not.

UFF, affect shadows doesnt work and too much workaround, in corona it works out of the box, vray has some work to do if this is stil an issue

It is not an issue. Just turn on affect shadows. Are you using shadow mapped lights or something?

Post a scene and I am sure someone will help you learn what is wrong.

Here it is working fine with a plane with a refraction map. The vertical plane has a VRayMtl applied to it. Affect Shadows is on (on by default in later versions of vRay).

This is using a VRay plane light, which is visible, and another VRay dome light to fill in a little.

Could be. In which case, if you are using VRayDirt then you need to enable Work With Transparency in the VRayDirt properties.

ahh just tried it, in the end it was too close to the wall which has a vray dirtmap with a wide radius, just advised the client to move it and now all is ok on his side(he is rendering-his model and files.)
