prevent png from casting shadows

It is not an issue. Just turn on affect shadows. Are you using shadow mapped lights or something?
Post a scene and I am sure someone will help you learn what is wrong.
Here it is working fine with a plane with a refraction map. The vertical plane has a VRayMtl applied to it. Affect Shadows is on (on by default in later versions of vRay).
This is using a VRay plane light, which is visible, and another VRay dome light to fill in a little.

some things to try, the wall its near to has a dirtmap so maybe that is it also i am using ies lights so will investigate a little more later when i can experiment and i will report back, scene is also massive and will have to post it if i cant figure it out(need to delete some nda stuff)Intel core i7-5960x cpu @3 GHz, GeForce GTX 970
