maya crashes when updating the alembic file for a vray proxy

bug report (maya 2016 linux, vray for maya 3.40.02):

1. create vray proxy from alembic file
2. render
3. externally overwrite/update the alembic file
4. hit render again, very likely maya crashes

as a work-around, usually re-opening the maya scene or restarting maya helps

anybody else seen this?

I can't manage to reproduce the crash. Does it occurs only with a particular .abc file? If yes can you send it over to support?
Also do you override the file with another one or you update the alembic geometry?
