  • Phoenix for Maya on OSX

Are there any plans to bring PhoenixFD to maya on the mac?

I know that's getting niche, but it would have been extremely helpful this last launch we went through.

For my fellow Apple employees PhoenixFD is a fluid simulation plugin that works natively with vray/maya. No need to sim, cache, and import.

I've worked with it on a couple of projects and I absolutely loved how easy it was to learn. Take a look at the latest cut for 3dsmax:

You can create liquid, smoke, and even a tank of gasoline, and drop a match in it and watch it explode.

We could give it a try, I guess... we are in the process of preparing Phoenix FD 3.0 for Maya, so this request comes at a good time

Fantastic! Let us know if there's anything we can do to help on our end.

I see Phoenix 3 just released for Win/Linux, any luck on the OS X front? Is this something we could see in the near future, or should we be looking into other solutions?

Definitely interested to try out Pheonix on macOS as well if you guys end up building a version.

You will have to look for other options right now I'm afraid. The Phoenix team is quite small and they are currently overloaded; I'm not sure when they will have time to look into a potential OS X port.
