    Hey,

Does it help if you increase the off-screen margin option in the rendering rollout? You can find more about it here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...endering-Ocean

Try to increase it gradually as it will increase the memory consumption during the render.

    Cheers!

Hmmm. It worked, but partially. This option expanded the boundaries a little, but not completely. I am attaching a screenshot.
Here the value is 150, with a maximum of 200.

At the maximum value, Vray refuses to render this. But I don’t think that the situation will change much after that, because the missing 50% is unlikely to fill the rest.

Isn't there another, easier way to render water dynamics in VR?

It is strange that such difficulties arise with this...

Could it be that you run out of RAM? What resolution are you rendering at? Rendering oceans for VR in high resolution is a very memory intensive task.

Which version of V-Ray are you using?

Can you send over the scene so we can take a look?

I have 32GB of RAM, render in 1500x750 resolution. Yes, I understand that this is a very costly path, but I think that my machine should handle it:
          32 GB
          i9 - 9900X
          RTX2080Ti

My version Vray: Vray 5, update 1.3

          Project in attachment.

Thanks a lot for the scene! Looks like you're using Spherical camera with fov of 360 - there is a known issue when you render this way. It is already logged in our bug tracking system.

What you can do instead is to use the Spherical panorama mode. If you set the vertical fov to 180 - it should give you the proper result. With the spherical panorama mode your scene looks good even with the off-screen margin set to 0.

            Cheers!

Many thanks! I'll try on Monday.
Another question - if I use Phoenix FD along with Octane Render, will the endless ocean work with a VR camera?

                Dear Georgi!

                I'm probably doing something wrong.

                Settings camera:
                Type: Spherical panorama
                Override FOV: 360
                Vertical FOV: 180
                and result....

                What to diong?

I tried many FOV options but didn't get the desired result. Did you do anything else to make this work?

You said that you're using Phoenix 3.14 and V-Ray 5, but there are no V-Ray 5 builds for Phoenix 3. Could it be that you're using an old Phoenix 4 build?

If you try to use Phoenix 3 with V-Ray 5 - I'm afraid it won't work correctly. As these are not compatible.

Just tried it with both Phoenix 3.14 and V-Ray Next Update 3.2 and Phoenix 4.41 and V-Ray 5 Update 1.3 and seems to be working correctly.

What I do is to open your scene, set the Off-screen Margin to 0, set the camera to Spherical Panorama and the Vertical fov to 180 and render.

Can you try to use the latest Phoenix nightly build?

                    Dear Georgi!

I'm using Vray 5 with Phoenix FD 3.14 (for Vray NEXT) - could this be the problem?
I have only Phoenix FD 3 license

Unfortunately, apparently I need version of Phoenix 4, but I don't have it. I will use it in conjunction with Octane, apparently.

Ah, this explains it. Phoenix 3 is supported only for V-Ray 3 and V-Ray Next, using it with V-Ray 5 will lead to problems.

What you can do instead is to install V-Ray Next and use that with Phoenix 3. Your V-Ray 5 license should be working without a problem with V-Ray Next.
