I also tried disabling Maya's color management system entirely, and it did not help the case.

Also, why can we not edit our posts? I've never seen a forum that restricts that before.

      Hello,

We noticed that if VFB is opened before render session the lag is still there. Can you try starting IPR without opened VFB and check if there is any improvement in responsiveness.

      Best,
      Alex

I will give that a try after work tonight. For now I have been opening the VFB first and using the IPR button there, so I'm hoping your suggestion will help. Thanks!

Okay so that helps quite a bit, but It's still less than half the performance (viewport FPS) as with OCIO off (or by using Maya's renderview with Maya's color management + OCIO).

          Some stats:

VFB OCIO off, or using Maya's renderview:
Smooth 60 FPS navigating the viewport, and scene changes (shader, camera, lights) refresh the IPR consistently.

VFB OCIO on, with the IPR started from within the VFB after opening it:
Framerate takes a huge hit. 1-4FPS. Scene changes very rarely actually trigger an IPR refresh.

VFB OCIO on, with the IPR started before opening VFB, as per your suggestion:
Very inconsistent framerate that jumps around between 10 and 30FPS, but scene changes do update consistently.

I'm certainly glad it's useable, but there must be something more to this issue. Hopefully someone has some more ideas.

Starting with tomorow's nightly builds this problem shouldn't exist.

About the still lower frame rate while rendering in VFB - it's in our to do list.

            Best regards,
