  • Insane render passes and combinations

    Hi everyone,,,,
first of all just to say vray beutiful piece of software but really, has some confusing stuff, or user manual is really confusing...

so my problem is this >

Render passes and combinations are very horrible explained > CAN SOMEONE PLEASE, BUT PLEASE EXPLAIN IN DETAIL ADVANCED BACK TO BEAUTY AND REGULAR BACK TO BEAUTY > because scheme presented there is useless!!! I really dont know how they thought if someone is let's say starting to composite or just making way trough CGI and other stuff... really dont get me wrong it's just a critic but plese, to all people in chaos group > just write the god thing readable to all people, not to explain it with croses and darts...

So > in 32 bit in photoshop everything is linear dodge ( add ) but in 16 bit or 8 bit that does not work > so please can someone according to render passes described in advanced and regular back to beauty PLEASE TELL OR WRITE EXACT BLEND MODES AND REQUIRED GROUPS for example this > '' (VRayDiffuseFilter x (VRayRawLighting + VRayRawGlobalIllumination)) '' ???? please no schematics and darts and other stuff, just pure and simple without to need to guess or decipher these scematics....

Once again no hard feelings just a critic, because this explanation is UNREADABLE!

    thnks in advance

I have answered a related question before, this might help you regarding Photoshop workflow:
    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...253#post812253

    Regarding the formulas:
    + means Add/Linear Dodge
    x means Multiply
() whats inside parentheses needs to be composited first by the software, so use a group to ensure that for example

    Example:
A+B (Layer A and B. Top layer needs Linear Dodge (Add) blending mode)
AxB (Layer A and B. Top layer needs Multiply blending mode.)
Ax(B+C) (Layer A at the bottom, above it a Group using Multiply blending mode. Inside the group are Layers B and C. Top layer needs Linear Dodge blending mode.)

I hope it helps a little bit,
    Daniel

Hello again, I've tried but not getting same result WITH ADVANCED BACK TO BEAUTY even in 32 bit... but i wanted to ask this >

FROM YOUR ANSWER OF SCHEMATICS IT'S RELATED TO 32 BIT WORKFLOW BUT IT'S NOTAPPLYING FOR 16 OR 8 BIT MODE...

        so...

        1) what are blending modes for every single RENDER PASS FOR : A) BACK TO BEAUTY
        B) ADVANCED BACK TO BEAUTY
I know it's a little bit more but cant find them...
essentially they gave in manual formula for linear, but WHAT IS WHEN I'M OT WORKING WITH LINEAR VALUES/FILES etc...

        thnks again
