I am using a large scale smoke emitter from a moving truck. The truck goes pretty close to the camera, and there is considerable grain in the render. Any ideas how to fix this?

This really sounds like your best bet. Additionally, please check if Probabilistic Shading is on and try to disable it from the Phoenix Atmosphere: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...spheresettings
