  • quicktime vr as Background

i would like to use a quicktime vr as a background environment.
but even though max supports *.mov format, the image never gets warped correctly, it never stiches end + beginning. (load a *.mov in the materialeditor, play with the u offset spinner and you see what i mean)

is there a way to map a quicktime vr correctly??

    Does this help?

    http://www.kekus.com/ptmac/support/e...cubefaces.html

You can then reassemble the faces to an equirectangular image with skypaint or panotools.

thats what i want to avoid. once you have exported the 6 faces of a cubic environment, you may as well load them into a reflect/refract cubic environment in max.
editing the image properties (i use colormap quite a lot...) then, is of course more difficult.
my idea behind this, is to use a quicktime vr environment instead of a hdr for lighting and reflections because the choice of hdr-images is quite limited.

You take the six faces and convert them to one equirectangular (spherical) image in skypaint or panotools.
