  • Question regarding 1st 2nd bounce

    Hi..

quick question for somone who might know, this is not important, im just curious.

when you turn on GI its Primary and secondary bounces are 1 and 1...this may sound like a wierd question but what is the calculation behind that "1"...how is it measured and how does that figure in real world units/measurements?

should that "1" be 1 or less than 1 when your working in LWF for example.

    hope that makes sence...

It is the intensity of the bounce. It should never be set higher than 1 (that would mean the surface is bouncing more light than it is receiving). Setting it lower will obviously darken up things in shadow as the light won't bounce as much.

frankly, it's just more digit's to me. but i've never needed to go below or above 1/1.

i belive vlado has mentioned in the past that 1/1 will give you more physically correct calculations.
