i have a question, with the dawn of the gpu age upon us.. won't this plugin be obsolete within a short period of time...
i am not going to squibble about a few seconds/minutes longer to render and image, as compared to a few hours as is happening now....

Nope, I don't think CPUs are going away any time soon. Even with the GPU renderers, you might have to wait quite a bit longer compared to a biased, but fast, CPU render.

Particularly where memory is concerned (large and many textures, displacement and proxy meshes, etc.).

Vlado I think you should wear rollerskates too!

karba, I've imported your comparison images into photoshop to test with "difference" mode your results.

There are some differences around the highlights nearest the light sources.

There is also a "strange" behaviour with the reflection because if you compare them in photoshop you should see that your reflection seem shifted.

After this, I like very much your time result and especially the noise free light reflections.

              Good job

One last question: the bad antialiasing around lights is due to high light multiplier or low Antialias sampler settings??

EDIT: I've attached the "difference mode" image from photoshop

bad antialiasing is because of high brightness.
About shift of light reflection - I don't know, why it is.
Another test of complex light geometry

Wow, very nice. This looks so interesting and generally usefull that this should actually going to end up in regular vray, shouldn't it?

so whatever happened to this? ive noted on rendering.ru its not listed in the plugins for sale, so im guessing its either on the back- burner, or somebody has incorporated it into vray?

Up =) After one years... no news! The plug-in was so nice. And yes, VRay is so sloooow when, for example, in the interior project you have a lot of lights!!!
Or Chaosgroup start to own light speed-up =) Because I don't understand if Karba can, Chaos cannot ^__^

Didn't Karba go to work for Octane render? Maybe that's why the Vray plugin development has been slower?

Mmm... yes, I remember this. But slower is not the correct word. The Vray plugin development is down. Same for Multiscatter... It's sad. I remember when Karba show a WIP about Multiscatter library etc...
Doesn't matter. Chaosgroup can be develops some similar light concept. IT would be a huge success over the other engine 5 time faster is an incredible speed-up!
