  • caustics inside a custom geometry using material fog

I'm trying to create a volume filled with "liquid" and I want the caustic rays to show in the volume.
But using the fog in the material settings does not seem to catch the caustic.
So I have cheated with gizmo and VrayFog in the environment but that does not really work well for me. (lots of post work)
Is there a gizmo that can use a custom object as volume?
Any other work around that I havn't though of?

    Thanks

I'm not sure what's the problem - you can use any mesh as a gizmo for VRayEnvironmentFog.

Oh! I stared blindly at the text "gizmo" and the reference scene with the vray sphere gizmo that I didn't even consider mesh being a valid option.

      Thanks.

I get bad empty buckets at the edge of the VrayFog Gizmo.

Any clue as to why they occur. They are not image dependant. Same size and placement at 1000 pixel image as 10 000 pixels.Click image for larger version

Probably increasing the subdivs for the environment fog will help.
