  • some damn fast render time's

    hi guy's
just doing some test renders today and started playing with the QMC and started to produce some very fast test renders... have a go yourselve's.

here are the settings, see what you think

Please bear in mind that these settings are purelly for test renders

can you post some images of what those settings produce and most important , render times??........
those settings look really odd/different from everything I've used/seen before.......but hey, if they get faster tests I'll be the first to adopt them

    show us more...

    thanks natty,

    paul.

      natty,

that stuff is GREAT!!!!!! I shouln't have doubt ya

      with my usual test settings
      ----------------------------------------------
      -4/-1 min/max for Imap
      0.5 clr tresh
      0.4 normal thresh
      40 Hem subdv
      20 interp.

      (default settings for QMC)

      Max tree deepth 63
      face/level coef 0.5

      AA > fix rate = 1

      color mapping > HSV esponential darker = 1 brighter = 1
      --------------------------------------
it was taking a little over 17 mins calc Imap and rendering from scratch.

with your settings the whole thing came down to about 11 mins.!!!!

the only problem I see is that even though it calculates the Imap VERY fast it seems that the rendering itself takes almost longer or as long as with my above settings.......so I need to work on that....but it's still a HUGE improvement plus the quality looks the same as w/ my old settings above, good for a test rendering...

      we should investgate this further...

      thanks for sharing!
      I'll keep playing w/ it...

      paul.

.....and rocking it does, my man

In the rendering above I had 20 lights and your settings (first post) and it took 11mins...w/ AA set to fix rate = 1 ......and full refelctions for glass..
now I added 3 times as many lights (60) and added your new settings (above) and its still only increased of 3 minutes.....

          damn nice, Natty!!!!

w/ my original settings (see above) it probably would taken around 35 mins.....with yours took only 14 mins.....

          thanks much

          paul.

                hello natty,
i guess something is weird over here, because i used to played with this settings some times ago and in my tests i've need to decrease min samples and not increase it. For exemple, i take a try now and render a image with 100 at min samples, just like you. My time render was 2:34, than i put my old values, 10 to min samples and i got a render time of 2:10. Take a try in your images and tell me if this is right. The only difference betwen us is that my image is a external image with two buildings and yours is a interior image, perhaps this must the diference.

                see you bud

mhm... more samples = more calculation = slower.

                        whats wrong here?

It is the QMC values, it is set to cut off most of the rays.
