  • Mesh subdivision technic from ChaosTV Tutorial

    Hi everyone,
in the tutorial called "Create complex exteriors with Chaos Scatter", Chaos Team has released the entire scene. The ground mesh has been subdivided in a particular way in order to optimize the model. They did it directly in 3ds Max? How?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

This particular mesh was created using Gaea, the Mesher node there allows for that kind of subdivision.
Since the ground mesh is simple enough you can achieve pretty much the same result with the free version of tyFlow using the terrain operators.
Create a basic mesh in 3ds max, then create a new tyFlow object, add a birth terrain operator, then object to terrain to use the 3ds max geometry, some erosion for details and then mesh it using the adaptive method.

If you're only interested in optimizing an existing model i guess the ProOptimizer modifier does a pretty decent job.
