  • Animation Advice needed

    Hi all,

    I'm looking for some advice for a camera path flyround I'm about to start.

    The scene is an external flyround of a house with large heavily wooded
    grounds, there'll be approx 500-600 trees in the model, I was wondering
    what would be the best way of incorporating this many trees I'll be
    using xfrog trees.

    My inital thoughts were to import 3-4 different types of tree, proxy them,
    and then instance the proxies to fill up the scene. The alternative is to
    import the 3-4 tree and just instance them around the scene.

    This is my first flyround with some much landscapping involved in it,
    could somebody please advice as to which method would be best used,
    the flyround will be rendered using LWF and over a small network of 7
    computers.

    Any help very much appreciated

    cheers
    steve

    The best way to do it is using vray proxies. We usually make use of advanced painter for that. It lets you "plant" some trees precisely. For large extensions you could use scatter to spread your proxies. Standard max scatter doesnt work, so u would better download an improved version from scriptspot.

      Be sure and optimize your xFrog trees becasue they will render really slow, at least the ones you can buy pre-made. I guess use xfrog tuner.

      And vray proxies render twice as slow as non-proxies so be careful.
