  • Interior Lighting Setup: What works for you?

Similar to my last post I would like to open a new thread covering interior lighting setups. I know there are a lot of posts on this but once again I would like to see what everyone else does in terms of their workflow.
    Thanks in advance.

I like put materials and stuff and throw in lights everywhere. PRESTO!

Sarcasm aside, asking for people workflow's isn't necessarily a quick and easy question to answer. Whining that people aren't answering your question, isn't going to get people to help either.

You might post an image and narrow things down a touch too. For instance, I might tend to light the interior of a football stadium differently than I would a private wine cellar.

(Be careful or percy will start sharing recipes)

                Sheperds Pie Recipe

                Prep Time: 30 minutes

                Bake Time: 20 minutes

                Ingredient List:

                1 lb. ground beef

                1 yellow onion, chopped

1 (10 oz.) can diced tomatoes

                Salt and pepper

1 (16 oz.) can mixed vegetables, drained

4 med. potatoes, cooked and mashed

                1 c. cheddar cheese, grated

                Kitchen Equipment Needed

                Frying Pan

Round or oval casserole baking dish, oven safe

                Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: In a frying pan or skillet, brown ground beef. Drain any excess fat from the ground beef.

Step 3: In your casserole dish, combine the diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, mixed vegetables and ground beef mixture.

Step 4: Top with mashed potatoes and shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 5: Bake uncovered at 350 degrees until the cheese melts, about 15 to 20 minutes.

This is a good make ahead casserole recipe that freezes well.

I like to add corn as well. Then top with some salsa before eating.

I guess interior lighting should be a hot topic right now with all the changes in 1.5. People used to simulate skylight by using vraylights placed on the windows and pointing to the inside. That used to work with and without linear workflow. Now, using LWF and VraySky alone, vraylights could be a thing from the past, which means a lot less work ajusting them and their respective intensities. Unfortunately, when using a kind of physical approach to interior lighting u´ll be facing the same drawbacks a real photographer will. IMO, that's not always desirable since it's preventing u from cheating wildly, which is what i like to do the most .
That said, i guess vraylights at the windows will be slowly replaced, and as far as artificial lights go, they still can be used in the same way they were, with the exception of physically accurate vraylights which could end up replacing max's photometrics lights with some further development.

Thanks for the reply Panthon. As for the rest, I don't think I need to define "forum" for you. You are right in that I should have been more specific but if that was the case then you should just ask. I just find it interesting that 700 people view and no one posts. But at the same time those people will answer the same damn question of whether or not the video card speeds up a rendering. As moronic as that may sound the bottom line is that people come here for assistance and to post some reasonable feedback. I am thankful for those who keep the sarcasam to themselves and just post constructive comments. It is obvious that some people just don't get out enough.

I think I did that. You didn't answer.

Panthon's suggestion is great, but you didn't mention whether your interior even had any windows. That has a bearing on things. If you post some details, I'm confident you'll get some replies.

I thought my original answer was pretty pertinant actually. If I had a dime for everyone who comes in here, doesn't bother to try and do some searching, and then asks extremely general questions, well, you know the drill.

I and many others have helped an untold number of people. I'm sorry nobody jumped up from what they were doing, and answered your question quick enough for you.

And to throw it right back at you, this IS a forum, you get what you give. People who whine about not getting an answer quick enough are a pet peeve of mine.
