    First of all, I don't know is this the right place to post my problem. So I apologies if I am doing something wrong.

    Micha I read about your tutorial for the grass It's really amazing. The thing is that now I am trying to render a forest house (not job , only for my portfolio) and I am having problems to get your result but with soil. I would like to have this kind of ground:




    First of all, how can I get this specific perspective of soil at 7000x 2000 (your image res). I tried  with Image Sinth but the perspective transformed to a top view. 
    2. Is it useful to have the other part of the horizon since you don't need that to get the grass? (like your trees).

      I think, for an environment mapping you need a bigger area from bottom to horizon line.

      For texture creation per imagesynth - try to shot perpendicular to the ground some images of soil, adjust the colors and correct vignetting of each image and use them as seed for imagesynth. It need time to create a good texture.

        Hey Micha I think this picture could work...



        Do you know how can I expand the resolution to your grass picture definition?

        What do you think about the shine reflect on the ground...??? It will make problems?

          Yes - no ... from my exprience, the image can't be used, to less informations, a horicontal repeat will be not good looking. Best working are images from large areas. Maybe you find one at the panorama images of flickr.com

                  I am able to get this working fine, but do not get any shadows on the grass (environment) - am I missing a setting. (Using Skecthup)

                    Do you use the environment mapped texture at a textured diffuse material? If yes, than I don't know why you don't get shadows.

                        Solved this now - I was way off.

                        I was applying the grass as a background environment. Now working fine.

                            i wont to ask what aboute this metod but using a smal objeckt. i cant use the material on the smal objeckt, only on the ground plane.
                            where am i wrong?

                              This method is for texture large grounds, as it's says on this thread's topic. It can be applied also on small ground faces. I'm not sure what object are you trying to use this on. If you post a screen shot of your object it would be clearer.
