        That makes sense. I assume you reported the bug to the Discreet developers. Let's hope they've removed the bug from the shipping Max 6 bitmap map.

            another one for you

            This is a great thread! I was having a really tough time with type #3, but was able to fix it after reading through your website.

            I've found another cause of hard splotches that I don't think is listed - using a camera correction modifier. Doesn't happen in all circumstances, but occasionally it is the culprit. Remove the modifier and you're fine.

              UNcheck MAX-compatible Shade Context (work in camera space) when using camera correct and you splotches should vanish.
