I would not began to do it in Max. Easier in any editor of photos... From Photoshop up to Combustion...

Filter>Render>Lens Flare
It is better to do a glow, for example, in Aftereffect or Combustion.

This is normally done in post using a program like Combustion or After Effects. You can play with the effect with out having to render out a sequence from max every time you want to make a change. Speeds this up a lot.
