I hear you all loud and clear regarding a Demo version. We had one in the past and there will be one again.

It's an excellent addition to the toolbox. One of the few pieces of software kit I've bought that I have no regrets about. That said, VFB support will be great, and PSB support as an output file would also be very useful. The 2GB limit is pretty easy to hit with 32bit renders.

            Hi Daniel,
a quick question, we are still using the 2.1 version and we always have the problem that eg. the reflection and specular pass are not gamma corrected - they are always very dark. right now we expose them in ps by using an adjustment layer which is set to gamma 2.2. Is this fixed in the new build?

Render elements always have a gamma of 1.0 in the PSD currently, because that ensures they are blended together correctly in Photoshop. (but means you have to apply any gamma correction on the blended result manually). A gamma adjustment is a non-linear operation, so it is a difference if you apply it to all the elements individually or once to the blended result. If all the element PSD layers already had a gamma of 2.2 then the blended result would not match the render (because Photoshop does not convert them to linear space for blending, unless you set a little known option "blend RGB colors using gamma=1.0" that is only available in CS4 and CS5).

For psd-manager 3.0 if you work in Photoshop 32-bit mode you always work with a linear color profile (Gamma = 1.0) anyway, so that is not an issue then.

So that is currently "as designed" but I also got this request from somebody else (e.g. simsimaging) so this will be taken care of.

              Thanks for the feedback Olli96,
              Daniel

WOW! This new release is incredible! Right mouse clicking on the Files... launches PhotoShop, and my layered Elements compile, to look exactly like final render. I literally can start turning on my elements, and my image builds into the final comp. Brilliant!

The V-Ray authorized commercial render farm ranchcomputing.com now supports psd-manager.

If you add adjustment layers on top of the layers that psd manager exports does everything update correctly when you update the psd manager link?

Photoshop has no "links". If you edit the PSD file and later overwrite it from 3ds Max your changes inside the PSD are gone.
In a compositing application like After Effects, you can make changes to the PSD layers and After Effects can update them if you overwrite the original PSD file. So you keep your edits.

Just a little update on our progress:

The V-Ray Framebuffer support is working great in the internal 3.1 Beta. There will also be some small additions like not having to enable the "Save File" option anymore. We are aiming for a release at the end of this month. We are still doing some additional testing with the new V-Ray 2.20 right now.

In the mean time you can win a psd-manager license or discount coupons if you post your postwork created in 2011 at Ronen Bekermans Architectural Visualization Forums.

                            Best Regards,
