how do I know what machine the license server is on? I assumed it is on my main workstation, but it could be on one of my slaves.

I didn't do anything locally, the change was done on the server. Our I.T. Manager installed a new DCHP server so when I rebooted I was assign a new IP address. When I add psd-manager as an effect the License Server Error box pops up. The server IP/Name: is the old IP address. When I put the new IP address in, the box just pops back up.
The IP of the machine you want to use psd-manager on doesn't matter. It is the IP-Address of the license server machine that you need to know (psd-manager calls the license server). When you get the dialog that lets you enter an IP then the problem is that you don't have a connection to the license server. A firewall blocking the port 3140 can also cause this.

The default location it is installed at is C:\Program Files (x86)\cebas\IP-Clamp. or simply check the Start menu of your machines for "cebas IP-Clamp".

I have looked at the v2 trial a few times in the past to see how it works together with VRay. There were some issues on proxies with opacity mapped leaves, resulting in incorrect objectID or materialID masks. Is this corrected now ??

Sounds to me like the Maximum Number of G-Buffer layers option (in the 3ds Max Preferences dialog, Rendering Tab) was not set high enough in your test. I had a similar case with one of our Beta-Testers recently (the default of 10 is a bit low) and increasing the setting solved it.

The problem has been discussed on the old Cebas forums and I think it was with you. Number of buffers was raised to 100 and the problem still existed. I described the problem with images of the render (of some bushes woth lots of opac mapped leaves) and the accompanying masks. Renders were OK with fRender but not with VRay, with or without the use of proxies. Just have to wait for the v3 trial to see if this thing has been solved. Hope so, because it would really save me a lot of time

                  Thanks Brett,

I'm currently on a deadline, but I will look for the problem-scene tonight (which is in 8 hours here) and send it over

The "AffectChannels" option is in the material VRayMtl (maybe only in V-Ray 2, not sure).

When I first ran psd manager setup the option to browse for an install location was empty. This time the browse option is there and it installed fine. Thanks.

my c:/program files(x86)/cebas has a folder called ip-clamp and two files in the folder.

                        ipclamp.lic
                        server.log

The server log says: Tue Jul 06 08:46:04 2010 127.0.0.1 App0018 1 and the ipclamp is encrypted.

Have you found your IP-Clamp Application? Search for ipclamp.exe.

no, I don't see it. I tried to reinstall it but I get a premature end error.

In my case, my IP-Clamp application is on my file server. That is where Cebas recommends putting it. Have you looked on your servers?
