I really liked the book and I got a LOT out of it. I'm the kind of person that loves to read about theory even thought I rarely understand what I am reading. He has lots of images that illustrate the topic well and the effects many of the settings. Everyday, I am learning more and more about the inner workings and hope to someday have the level of understanding that many users here have.

It gave me a great base of knowledge to work from and is a great reference tool. That being said, with all of the changes coming down the line with VRay 3, I don't know how much of the book will still be relevant. I was unable to attend Siggraph this year so I missed out on most of the new information about VRay 3.

As a side note, I wish I could get a version of the ebook. Would be a lot easier to transport than the book!

Hehe fair enough, i like to write notes and stick post-it notes in important parts. I also emailed the guy a while ago - the book is rasterized so searching won't be possible either. That was kind of what deterred me. But then I guess you can't really go wrong for 25 euro.

Read it in order, and then use spot3d as a supplement when you remember something from it a week later but not the exact details. When you get to the spot3d page it will remind you of the details about what you read in the book.
