  • Water drops on the glass

    Hello, everyone!
    Please, help!
Does anybody know how the way how these drops of water on the bottle could be made?

    Hi!

    Have you tried particles?

hm... no, i'm rather new to 3d max... so is there rather a simple way?

I think some people have done this with displacement maps.

why not scatter a small sphere on the bottle shape? i don't know for sure if you can boolean out the inner bottle parts u will and up with.

          tell me how it goes.

          regards,
          bakbek.

Use the bottle shape as your particle emitter

Thnx, everyone especially Mare and olitech. After the Mare's reply I've used particles (it was my first time usin' it) and used the object as the emitter for the PArray of sphere particles. It's really simple!

So, now u can see one of the renders, it's not final but it's close to it Now, it looks like this:

Would you mind explaining how you set that up?

Any chance of posting that little scene's max file. Would be good to have a pick over.

                      Nice work !

                        ok, here it is...

there's two PArrays (one for big drops and one for small), a sphere, and several Vray light sources...

                        Enjoy it

Second: I´m having problems with the file: wet.max
my max say: File open failed.
Can u lose some time n tell me (more detailed) what u do to get this look? please?

                            thanks a lot

                              ok

I've used two particle systems for this scene, the type of the parcticle system - PArray. The emitter used for them is the object (sphere).

First PArray simulates big drops, second - small. We must have many little drops, and few big. Here are the settings for both PArrays:

Particle formation - Over Entrie Surface
Particle Quanity - Use Total: 500 for the first array, 3000 for the second.

All motion and timing parameters are set to zero.

Particle size is 60 for the first, and 40 for the second.
Play a little with variation and other params.

                              Particle type is standart, sphere.

                              A water material is used.

                              That's all.
