Heard about this from Neil posting on fb - this sounds great, not sure what to suggest beyond what has already been mentioned, but I'm definitely interested.
I'd love to see this triplanar mapping developed. 90% of my mapping is fugly box mapping, which can work most of the time until there are rounded shapes. This new feature looks like it would help my workflow with mapping substantially.
Vlado I'll send you the code for what I got up to on my take on it. I called it multiplanar because it used 3, 6 and 18 planes (from memory). I got stuck on the DUDV coefficients. It may or may not be useful
This is fantastic and would be a huge timesaver. Thankyou Vlado! Very exciting side projects lately - first the Mudbox to Vrmesh workflow (genius idea), now blended box mapping ..... what next?!

This is fantastic
I've been waiting for a triplanar map in 3ds max for a loong time.
For my needs it would be perfect if it had a few more things:
- Offset, rotation for each of 3 planes... If there would be a map slot for each plane as well it would be even better
- A way to randomize it for multiple mtlids.
- A World space option in addition to the Local space it uses now, so we could map multiple objects as one. I'm doing only stills and this sort of mapping is most useful for things where exact texture placement is not important, so it wouldn't matter if the object's mapping changed when moved around. It would be very fast to set up, as no helper object would be needed.
This is great!!
That's why everyone should use Vray, with a guy like Vlado at the top this cant go wrong!
Love to see triplanar finished and officially released!

Would love to know a bit more about that mudbox to VRMesh workflow, Could you please share the link to the thread?
