hi ....turn your imap bounces down to 0.7 each ....
turn your Interp.Samples . from 80 to around 20... render that for startes and see what happens...

it looks somehow like the geometry doesn't fit everywhere..
        but try natty's settings first.

when you decrease your mult. you have to increase your hsv-dark-mult.
and i think, he meant the following:

            First bounce Second bounce
            1.0 1.0

            to

            First bounce Second bounce
            1.0 0.7

well no ... 0.7 and 0.7 should be enough for interiors .... all depends on your lights and settings ..

it doesnt look as if he is using any vray light...but just a direct light ... which is no good.

well you need to force more light in there!...
I didnt say you wasn't using vray lights ...but it looks like you aren't .... meaning that you have no control over your lighting.

yeah, i also would like to see your settings at all, just as maxer said.
                      or upload your scene.

well natty, 0.7 ; 0.7 might be enough for interior shots, but as you can see - it's quite too dark, thus i suggest him to increase the first mult. i also thought of the lack of vraylights.
but it seems, that the vray light mult.s are MUCH too low. maybe a setting-mistake? i would try setting them each to 1.5 with no decay clicked. and then refine them.

but show your settings and i'll promise you find some awnsers to your questions as well.

ps: please adjust your displacementmap of your carpet

its all about light control ... 0.7 is enough ... always has been ...

it depends on the glass strength, doesn't it? if i've got a high absorption-glass as windows, my vraylight won't pass through enough, so i need to increase the first multiplier, because this won't break up at my windows.

or am i totally wrong? i also use something about 0.7 - 0.8, but i think, 1.0 still makes sense in some situations.

of coures it all depends on scene to scene... but i tend to exclude the glass from the vray lights these day's ... makes life easier..
