hi all, i've got a question - I have a set of vertical vents on the roof of a building, but when i render far away the vents go like this

but when i'm zoomed in they look fine with no distortions
like this:

- and the shader is a standard solid colour, no textures etc..
i've tried subdividing the surface and also extruding the top planes slightly but am a bit stuck, anyone got any suggestions?
