  • Cosmos assets are not block instances? (large scene file size)

    Hi,

I create a scene with a lawn area where I used ~5 models of grass and flowers. I copied the objects often over the area and wonder that the file size increase more and more. I checked an object and it's an "open mesh" and not a block. Wouldn't be better if any Cosmos object would be a block? Or is the recommended workflow to create blocks before make mass scenes?

    Hi Micha,

Cosmos asset copies are treated as instances by V-Ray in all cases.
You will not gain much by adding them to a block before copying - from a rendering standpoint.
On the other hand this might help you keep your Rhino files smaller.
The renderer-side handling should be just fine if you do so.

Thanks for letting us know about this.
We'll look into ways to optimize the file size.

Right, it's only about the file size and maybe the display pipeline of Rhino. I wondered why my simple scene with a grass lane was grown to a 700MB file. Maybe every added asset to a scene can be automatic converted to a block.
