Hello!

As I've read, Vantage supports two graphics cards. I have an RTX 3080 Asus and a GTX 1080 TI from Asus will both be used in Vantage? Can you activate the graphics card somewhere in the settings?

Yes, up to two compatible cards can be used. The application automatically detects them. If there are more than two, it selects the two that seem best. We have not yet implemented UI for selecting the cards to use.

However in your case the second card is much slower than the first one. It does not have raytracing acceleration, etc. Also keep in mind that the memory of the two GPUs is not added together - each uses its own memory. So there will be little benefit from using the second card. In fact, things could even run slower than only on the 3080. The PCI-e link between the cards is a bottleneck.

If you need to run Vantage on only one of the cards, you can do it from a command prompt like this: vantage.exe -d 0 *or* vantage.exe -d 1, where the number is the index of the GPU and you can see the list of detected GPUs with their index from Help->Debug Log.

Two identical cards will be able to split the work well between each other. So you may get close to twice the speed, but it depends. Since the results have to be transferred from the second GPU to the display GPU on every frame, the PCI-e limits the maximum possible FPS (it gets lower for higher resolutions). So a second GPU will only be helpful if the scene renders at relatively low FPS. If the cards are connected with NVLink the maximum framerate is higher.

Note also that Light Cache is not available for dual GPUs - this slightly reduces speed in interiors too.

Make sure to use the denoiser when rendering a final image or sequence.
The nVidia AI one in Vantage 1.3.0 can save you way more time than even a second GPU.

Also, if you are rendering an animation, you can start a second copy of Vantage on a different GPU and render a different animation range on each copy of Vantage.
This will eliminate the overhead of moving the rendered frame between GPUs. You will also be able to use the light cache, which can be very important for some interiors.

Are you in Vantage's directory ?
You can just copy the Vantage Desktop shortcut and modify its properties to include the "-d 0" and/or "-d 1" options.

Yes, one shortcut for "-d 0" and one for "-d 1".
It's usually easiest to copy and modify an existing shortcut.

It depends on a lot of factors:
- are you using the 3080s in a single Vantage instance or in two separate Vantage instances to render different parts of an animation
- the FPS at which your scene is running
- is it an interior space that benefits a lot from the light cache (which is disabled when running on 2 GPUs with one Vantage instance)
