If I manually export my original scene from Max, with the VRAY exporter and "Animation" checked...then "Open scene" in vantage it works! However I had already created a complex set of cameras in an earlier file, so when I try to "Open scene as Config only" to the working file to get my cameras and timing on the new file that works....the animated material then STOPS working. Something in my original files configuration is stopping the animated material from working? The question is how to get all my existing cameras into my newly exported/imported file.

Can you attach the .vantage file with the cameras, so we can take a look what happens ?

Current test is like this. Max file has Live Link to Vantage. When scrubbing MAX timeline the material animates. It also updates live in Vantage and the material animates. When I create a few cameras in Vantage and scrub timeline in Vantage the material is now STATIC. Same if I do I high quality render. (both as stills or mp4). The material does not render as animated.

          Hi GeorgeKaplinJr,

When in Live link with Vantage you only see the current frame information and the Vantage timeline shouldn't have any frames. If you are making a camera animation inside Vantage and then you scrub the Vantage timeline - then the material won't be animated as the frame inside Max hasn't changed. I would suggest 2 approaches:
          • create the camera animation inside Max entirely and use the 'Render animation with Chaos Vantage'
          • create the camera animation inside Vantage, save a .vantage file, import that file inside Max using the 'Import changes from Chaos Vantage' (you can only import the animated camera if you wish) then use the 'Render animation with Chaos Vantage' and set the imported animated camera as Render camera.
Please tell us if this works for you.
          Best regards,
          Alexander

I've gotten the animated texture to appear in Vantage 2.1. But it does not update when rendering an animation to MP4. Hitting U will update the material (which is a image sequence from MAX 2023 exported to a vrscene). Scrubbing the timeline in Vantage works. (with the Auto Update Images toggle on). Ive tried Tools/High Quality Render but it just renders frame one of the animated material.

              Hi GeorgeKaplinJr,

Can you share the scene so we can test it on our end? You can use the Chaos Help form with a link to the forum thread: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. You will have to include all asset files so the animated textures work. Once we have something we will write back.

              Best regards,
              Alexander

I will uploaded shortly. But im still unclear on proper process. I use the live link with Vantage and MAX. I setup my cameras in Vantage and tween them in vantage using the timeline. With that process animated materials do not work. However if I animate my cameras in MAX and use "Render Animation with Vantage" from within MAX the animated materials DO work. The main reason I dont do this is that in rendering inside vantage allows better DOF controls, that I cannot emulate in MAX to render with Vantage.

Is it the live link that is causing issues? Does the file need to be exported from MAX to VRscene to work? or is it required for animated materials to be rendered FROM MAX using Vantage for them to work?

Animated textures from Cinema 4D are currently not supported in Vantage or Live Link, because they do not update in IPR rendering. Currently animated textures from Cinema4D are exported in a different way compared to Max or SketchUp and need additional support. Either the V-Ray for Cinema has to implement a similar way of exporting animated image sequences like in Max/SketchUp or/and we have to add support for the current way it is exported. I have logged in your request in our system and we will inform you when it is available.

I tried it and it works (Cinema 4D 2023 and vray latest build), even in IPR by manually forwarding one frame at a time. The problem is that until the "Rendering via link" function is implemented it will be impossible to do so.

                    Hi Alexander,

I am just going through the animated texture steps again and having trouble getting it to work withSU 2021 Vray 6.2 and the latest Vantage 2.2. The video you posted earlier on this thread link below doesn't seem to load anymore.

Is there anyway you could make that link accessible again please.

Expired link below which doesn't t work from your reply dated 20-07-2022, 12:44 AM

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't seem to find anywhere else on line for help.

                    Thanks again

                      Hi Josh,

Strangely the link from the first post works properly for me but the one you posted doesn't. Can you try this one and tell me if you can access it? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aIn...ew?usp=sharing

                      Best regards,
