  • Rendering animations in 1.8.1

Has something changed with settings...rendered a test 720p with samples at 500, light cache, denoiser, motion blur and reduce flickering on and I'm getting flickering. Before it worked fine.

Can you try disabling "dynamic textures" from Render -> Advanced and see if that helps in your case ?
We found some issues with this option we need to fix.

So...I unchecked dynamic textures and motion blur and it looks fine now. Does having motion blur on calculate camera motion blur or only objects moving.

Yes, I believe camera motion blur is also calculated.

Seems like animations without motion blur checked come out much cleaner.

Hm, well, that might be the expected behavior.
If there is camera motion, everything will get blurred due to the motion blur.
Or are you talking about something else ?

Does enabling dynamic Textures speed up animation render times?

No, it just reduces the amount of GPU memory that Vantage uses.

Note that the latest builds have fixes for the issues related to dynamic textures.
So, you don't need to disable them anymore (unless there is something we missed).

For animations, which denoiser is better? Nvidia AI, Vantage or combined? And does one speed things up vs. the other?

                      Hi Luma3d,

The Nvidia AI, Vantage or combined denoiser options are only for interactive rendering, when you navigate and setup your scene. When you render stills or sequences the NVidia AI denoiser is always used.

                      Best regards,
                      Alexander
