Hello, I thought of doing a test with CPU, GPU and vantage.
Highlights of the test -
1. CPU and GPU (RTX) is aces workflow. Vantage is sRGB with filmic tone mapping in habble (default)
2. Scene is lit with only one HDR sky dome.
3. No post processing on any image.
4. PBR textures on most of the objects, only carpet is not PBR
5. Absolutely no changes between different scene, change changed renderer and hit render.
Conclusion.
1. I consider CPU render the best as it supports all vray features. and lights and materials render as they are suppose to without any drawbacks.
2. GPU render is not so great in terms of quality of some materials, you can see how the sofa, sofa base, planter on left dint render so well. it can be fixed of course.
3. Vantage looks pretty decent in comparison, its not aces but the look is close, textures and colors are little washed out, but can be fixed a little.
4. CPU amd 3600 single cpu which took approx 1 hr. GPU 3080 rtx surprisingly took little over an hour, vantage is 3mins. 400 samples
If vantage can support aces workflow in future, I thing the gap between CPU and Vantage would be much closer.
I also cannot emphasize enough that how important render elements can be for composition later. a backtobeauty pass is a must.
One imp thing to note is, you will see the floor pattern change in all 3 renders, that's due to the seed change for every frame on floor object.
Do share your thoughts after comparison.
Thank You
