You need to have your scene set in your DCC app to the ACEScg workflow. When you export you scene to a vrscene, upon loading Vantage detects that it is in the ACEScg space and renders it accordingly. However Vantage doesn't yet support OCIO so the colors that you see in the viewport will not be as you would expect them or look like those if you compare them to the VFB. This has already been discussed in the following threads: https://forums.chaos.com/forum/chaos...cg-not-working https://forums.chaos.com/forum/chaos...10#post1211710
Alexander.Atanasov , I am struggling to render anything out of Vantage that looks remotely like Aces from Vray GPU
When I use the ACES colour management in 3dsmax and start Live Link the colours are very different in the Vantage viewport, but when I render out a PNG the colours are exactly the same as the the vieweport (wrong)?
I have read other posts saying that Vantage viewer will look incorrect but renders SHOULD look correct? Is that right? In my case the Vantage viewport is wrong and the render is also wrong as it looks the same as the viewport
Alexander.Atanasov Further to the above I am convinced ACES is not being applied correctly, or I am doing something completely wrong. The above were PNG outputs, with Vray version set to save the aces transform to the image.
I have now tried outputting 2 x EXRS, the exact same settings in both Vray and Vantage 16bit float EXRs whilst using the ACES colour management in 3dsmax.
Both EXR's look very different.
Now, I put them both into Davinci Resolve and added a ACES transform node both with the settings attached. Then I saved out the PNGs and they look the same as the PNG's outputted in my first test. See attached
But why does Vantage look so bad? I can only susepct ACES is not working correctly there should be a 1 to 1 match no? The exposure, colours, highlights and shadows are terrible in comparison. This is live linked from the same camera in 3ds max and same exposure settings.
The curves are completely different in Davinci as well on the original EXR's. See attached also
Lastly, working on the original EXR with the ACES transform applied the Vantage EXR completely breaks the minute I change temperature.... Comparison of GPU exr with same temperature change
