  • Emissive materials in Vray doesn't work in Chaos Vantage

    Hello,
I'm new to Chaos Vantage and I use Sketchup + Vray. My problem is when I import my Sketchup model (with Vray materials, lighting done) to Chaos Vantage, emisssive materials doesn't light? Could someone help?
    Thanks!

Can you attach a simple scene that shows the issue ? It could be a SketchUp or a vrscene file.

Vantage doesn't support mesh lights currently.

            Hi lequang_tiep,

Can you please try without the 'Compensate EV' option in the emissive material as Vantage currently doesn't support it.

            Best regards,
            Alexander

I think the issue is the "compensate EV" option - we don't support it in Vantage.
If you disable it, the Vantage result should match V-Ray.

                Hi Vladimir and Alexander,

I turned off "compensate EV" option and increase intensity, but it still doesn't work.

                Thanks for your help,

                  Hi Huyen,

Can you please disable the 'Clamp secondary rays' option in the Render tab inside Vantage(in the Advanced section) and see if that makes it better?

                      Hi Huyen,

Yes, now I see that you used the emissive as a layer in the VRayMtl. We currently do not support layering. For emissive materials to work you have to create an Emissive material instead of adding an Emissive layer
                      https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1k3-n...gDUONA8T921TaM
This is in addition to not supporting "Compensate EV" option and sometimes 'Clamp secondary rays' option can also reduce the lightness drastically.

                      Best regards,
                      Alexander

                          You are welcome

We have it logged to add support for layering at some point but it is not going to come that soon.

                          Best regards,

In V-Ray 6, it looks like using the menu entry showed in your screenshot, creates a Generic material with an Emissive layer.
How can we create an Emissive material? Does it still exist in V-Ray 6?
