  • Live Link w SketchUp Crashes

Running live link with SketchUp and turning a layer on in SketchUp on seems to crash SketchUp and Vantage. Hangs up for a very long time and eventually just seems to crash.

Which versions of V-Ray for SketchUp and Vantage are you using ?

VRay for SketchUp 6.00.01 and Vantage 1.8.4 After some further testing it just seems that turning layers on/off or working within groups while Vantage is running causes both programs to freeze for a while, but if I stay patient they will eventually unfreeze. The lockup takes a minute or two, so I don't know if this is normal behavior or if the response time should be... well... real time or not.

Can you test the same workflow with V-Ray CPU/ GPU ?
If they exhibit a similar slow down, then it must be related to a slow down in the V-Ray for SketchUp export code and you will have to report it to the V-Ray for SketchUp team.

Just tested using CPU and GPU interactive renders and response time is 1-2 seconds within SketchUp, Vantage is like 1-2 minutes.

Can you send a scene that exhibits this behavior to support and link them this forum thread ?

The issue is logged as LAV-1329 for further investigation.

Decal present in a scene were causing some freezes in the Chaos Vantage Live Link when hiding\unhiding layers in the host application.
As a temporary workaround Decal needs to be deleted to avoid the issue.

I'm having a similar issue but with Revit. Every time I have live link enabled and change something on a material, Revit freezes. Sometime a few seconds, but often for a few minutes. As soon as I close Vantage, instantly or a few seconds later Revit will unfreeze.

I'm using the latest Vantage (1.8.4) and V-Ray (6.00.21) versions, and Revit 2022.
                  I have two GPUs installed; a P2000 and a RTX 3060 (Driver versions 528.49).
I've tried different variations of what programs use what GPUs (using Nvidia Control Panel). My initial setup was Revit and Asset Editor use P2000, and all rendering programs (Vantage, V-Ray) use the 3060.

EDIT: This seemed to have fixed its self for now, so never mind I guess.
