  • 3D Model from Cosmos can't be deleted

    Hello everyone !
Since the release of Vantage 2.0 I'm using it daily on my interior design project. It is super usefull and make our workflow really faster and simpler.
I have an issue with a 3D model I downloaded from Cosmos which was deleted so it doesn't appear in the Rhino 3D model but is still here on the Vantage viewport.

I tried to import the model again to delete it but it doesn't work : I can add new instances of the model and delete them but there's still few instances that can't be deleted.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem ?

    Thanks all !

I use the latests Rhino3D / Vray / Vantage releases.

Thanks for reporting this. We will look into it. Do I understand correctly that you are using live link and you are not exporting a vrscene file? As a workaround maybe you can find the asset in the Vantage object list and delete it from there.

      Hello !
Yes I'm using the live link with Rhino. The thing is there is no object list while using the live link so I can't delete it from Vantage.

Ah, yes, I forgot. It's removed on purpose to avoid conflicts between modifications made through Vantage and the host app (Rhino).

This sounds like a V-Ray for Rhino issue.
Does the deleted object appear if you render with V-Ray for Rhino ?

            Hello,
The object does not appear in a standard render with Vray for Rhino, only in Vantage.
Any ideas on what could be the issue ?

No idea, we would need the rhino scene file to debug it.

                Hello kevin_sourivong!

Can you please provide us more information for the steps to reproduce the issue or a short video showing it?
We can not reproduce it on our side. During Vantage live link the scene is automatically updated if:
                • a Cosmos asset is deleted from the scene in Rhino
                • a Cosmos asset is deleted from the V-Ray Asset Editor
                • a Cosmos asset is deleted from the Cosmos browser window
                • a Cosmos asset is deleted from the selected Cosmos download directory's folders - Lock and Packages
Downloading an already deleted or missing Cosmos asset is not updated in Vantage automatically - the asset is shown after restarting the live link (similar to the V-Ray Interactive rendering in Rhino).

Could you please send us a test scene (packed project from V-Ray > Pack Project...) with the issue through our support portal (https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) with the link from this forum topic in the message? This way we could be able to investigate the issue further on.

                Thank you.

Can a workaround be setting a scene state with the object off so that it doesn't show up in the renderings?

                    Hello Luma3d!

In Rhino's right panel there is an option for the object's visibility. It can be found in Properties > V-Ray > Object Properties > Visible. When it is disabled, the object will not be rendered.
