  • "Ghosting" when using NVidia denoiser

Strange issue I've never had before - When I use NVidia denoiser when rendering animations, I'm getting some strange ghosting, which gets worse as the animation progresses.

I can switch to Intel denoiser, and I don't get the ghosting.

    I have no motion blur.

I've used the file and vantage settings OK in the past.

    Any ideas?

    Hi, thanks for posting.

I've used the file and vantage settings OK in the past.
I am not sure exactly are you using Vantage for the rendering of the example above or V-Ray?
If you are using Vantage then switching to "legacy mode" might help.
This is from the docs regarding the NVidia denoiser in Vantage:

Legacy mode (interactive and offline) – In some specific cases may produce better results than the new mode. For example, when there is ghosting on deformable meshes in offline sequences.

Apologies, I thought I had posted this in the Vantage section.

Yes it's rendering in Vantage, with the live link to Max.

I'll try that option in the settings, however this shot was static, other than the camera movement.

      Thanks.

No worries, I moved the thread in Vantage issues. Check if "legacy mode" for the denoiser fixes your issue and share the result.

            Hi suzanne_doherty,

Turn off "Legacy Mode" and do not rendering from viewport №2 in 3dsMax. This is a very strange error https://youtu.be/_CCQuy_eQvQ
Render LiveLink in viewport №1 or №3 or №4 https://youtu.be/mlHdDqoOt2U

Nikita2016 do you mean that you have the blurring only from one of 3ds Max's viewports using Live Link and not from the others??

Very strange indeed. Is there anything special about this viewport? Are you rendering from the same camera in all four? Does it happen in every scene or just in this one?
Does it happen every team? For instance if you close everything and open again will this have any effect on the situation?

All viewports settings by default (I am using 3dsMax 2021)

Yes (I am using VRayPhysicalCamera with settings by default)

                    In every scene

Hi, try to reset your 3ds Max to default and reinstall V-Ray, Vantage and your GPU driver. If nothing helps please open a ticket so we can log into your computer trough team viewer and try to fix the issue.
