  • Forest Pack edge mode clipping leaves visible geometry

When I use FP grass with edge mode clipping the clipped geometry still shows up in Vantage but white, (no colour or texture)? I have queried the issue with Itoo Software as well as I wasn't sure how the artefacts were occuring but they have said I must request that Chaos investigate as it is a Vanatage/GPU issue? I have also experienced the live link still displaying frozen objects as there is no toggle to only send selected objects to Vanatge whilst in live link? I am still very new to the software so apologise if I'm missing something obvious?

    Hi martin_hulse1,

What version of Vantage and V-Ray are you using? In versions prior to Vantage 2.6 you would need to enable clip opacity from the top toolbar > Render setting > Toggle clip opacity(the leaf icon) in order to remove the grey parts of the forest pack. With version 2.6.0 and newer the opacity is enabled by default and shouldn't require this step.

I have also experienced the live link still displaying frozen objects as there is no toggle to only send selected objects to Vanatge whilst in live link?
Yes, in Live Link everything that is visible in the scene is send to Vantage and there is no control to send only part of it.

    Best regards,

I use layers in 3Ds max to toggle visiblity of objects in Vantage Live Link. The eye icon will make them visible/invisible.

Although be aware - adding an object to a layer that is already invisible won't make the object disappear in Vantage. You'll need to toggle the layer on and off again in Max to tell vantage to hide the objects.

Thank you both for the responses, I have just downloaded the latest version and whilst testing realised that the clipping is different on the detail version of FP lawns. I had thought the detail version was for macro/close up shots but it also crops differently? I had also never realised there was a difference between frozen with frozen invisible toggle set to active and a layer being set to invisible. Learn something new every day!! Thanks again great product and support as always.
