When are render node licenses for V-Ray 7 (3ds Max) going to be available?
Hello, the render node license is universal and not version specific. If you need extra render node licenses for distributed rendering for example you can just get yourself a render node subscription. https://www.chaos.com/vray/render-node
Hi, kostadin.botev . We have already purchased a render node license. My question was when are we going to be able to use it? Our reseller said that you are going to release them a few months after the official release of V-Ray 7. Is it really going to take that long before we can use the render node license that we already purchased? We have projects here that need more computational power.
Are you saying that we can use it right now? Our reseller said that it will take a few months before you release the render node licenses for 3ds Max because "They have not released V-Ray 7 for all other software packages. When V-Ray 7 is released for all other software like Sketchup etc. etc, they will release V-Ray 7 render node for 3ds Max as well and only then you'll be able to use it.". Their exact words. Did they lie to us? As I said, we have already paid for the render node license. We bought it together with the GUI/workstation licenses at the beginning of this month. I can show the invoice, if you'd like.
I'm not saying anyone has lied to you. I'm just saying that so far render node license has been universal and not version specific if you have a subscription. If there is a difference when you upgrade from an old perpetual license I can't say as I am not a sales representative. Perhaps it will be best to clear that with your reseller and our sales. You can open a ticket and for Request type chose Orders so the appropriate support team could answer your questions.
Yes, thanks. However, my question is still not answered. I was only told that the licenses are available for purchase which was not my question. I'm still waiting for your reply.
If you have a VRay render node license, you just need to install VRay 7 on the machines you want to use for rendering. When you submit a scene for rendering from your workstation, the render nodes will pick it up and render it.
I purchased a couple of render node licenses for VRay 6 but upgraded to VRay 7 without any issues. Rendering in 3DS Max with VRay 7 just fine.
Hope that helps.
Best,
Andy

Hi Davers . Thanks for the information! It took Chaos several days to answer this simple question and they still haven't answered it clearly. Thanks for doing so. So our reseller mislead us? We also purchased a render node license in the beginning of the month, and our reseller told us that Chaos will delivered them after a few months!
Hi, kostadin.botev . Can I kindly have another support agent look at my ticket (#316247)? The current one doesn't seem to fully understand my issue and what I'm asking, and they are also taking a really long time to answer it. It's an extremely simple and straightforward question that should take no more than 5 minutes to answer and almost a week has passed already without getting a clear answer. Can you kindly provide a phone number that I can call to resolve this matter more quickly? We REALLY need our render node license that we already paid for, if they are really released as Davers said.
Unfortunately I have no control of who will handle your ticket as they are from different support team. It would be best to continue the communication there and ask if you could speak with someone else.
