What about V-Ray version and MacOS version compatibility? My current subscription on my main machine has 6.1 Server on MacOS Ventura 13.7 which is OK as I understand it, but what about my legacy version 5.2 V-Ray for SketchUp on a legacy machine running Montery 12.7? Does that get 5.5.6 instead? Is there any compelling reason to upgrade Server 6.1 to 6.2?

If you have 6.1 you don't need to do anything. On your old machine go to http://localhost:30304/#/about and check the version. Its most probably older than 5.5.6 so it will require an update.
