  • Dongle Licenses Have Expired

I have V-Ray 3 for 3ds Max and Maya plus several render nodes. Admittedly, I haven't been using V-Ray much these days. However, I have always used the dongle license. Today, I upgraded to license server 5.1.2. Afterwards, I now get the following error message:

    DONGLE LICENSES HAVE EXPIRED
V-Ray Render Node 3.0 has expired on Oct 20 2017, V-Ray App SDK 3.0 has expired on Oct 20 2017

I am showing 8 render nodes for 3ds Max that never expire. I am also showing 8 render nodes for Maya that expire October 20, 2017. This confuses me as I thought my licenses were perpetual.

    Can someone help me?

    Hello,

Can you please check if you are able to see your licenses listed at:
    http://localhost:30304/#/bundle/max
    http://localhost:30304/#/bundle/maya

The error message that you get is just a warning and it is related to licenses that were previously on that dongle and expired almost an year ago so it should be save to ignore it.

      Hi,

I checked the links you provided. In both cases, it tells me the render nodes have expired. I have attached an image from the Maya link.

I do not believe I have ever had a V-Ray license that had an expiration date. They have all been perpetual licenses. This is why I was surprised to see such a warning. Why would there be a warning on a perpetual license?

On a separate note, Am I able to convert my dongle licenses to online licenses? If so, what is the process?

        Hi,

I am sorry to be a pest. Did I fall through the cracks on this one?

          Chaos Group,

I think I am on the edge of being offended by your lack of response to my questions. I believe they are legitimate questions that warrant some type of customer-centric response. We are now in the 7th day after I posed the questions and there is still no response. Could someone please take 1 minute out of your day and provide me with some guidance?

            Hello,

Sorry for the delayed response, I have missed your previous updates on the topic.

It appears that the licenses are not listed correctly in the license server web interface, however I am not able to confirm that.

Can you please send us the following information to support@chaosgroup.com :
            1. Link from this forum thread.
            2. Context.wbc file from the dongle - to generate it please follow the instructions here:
            https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...atinga.wbcFile
            3. Also please go to http://localhost:30304/status and save the output of the page to a text file. Please forward us this file too.
